How eSIMs work

What is Saily eSIM, and what do you get when you buy it?

Citește în română

Saily sells mobile connectivity through an eSIM. It was developed by Nord Security, the company behind NordVPN. You choose a destination and data package, install the profile on a compatible phone and connect within the package's coverage area. Saily's company information

The app, the eSIM profile and the data package are separate parts of the purchase. Understanding that difference makes setup and price comparisons much easier.

What each part does

PartIts roleWhat it does not establish
Saily appLets you buy and manage servicesThat every country is included in your purchase
eSIM profileGives the phone the credentials needed for the serviceThat a data allowance is active or unexpired
Data packageDefines destination, allowance and validityThat ordinary phone calls and SMS are included
Optional number and calling serviceAdds a separate telephone service under its own termsThat your existing number has been transferred

A useful way to shop is to begin with the package, not the app's overall coverage claims. A provider can sell services for many destinations while the package in your cart covers only one.

Does Saily include a telephone number?

The standard data purchase and the optional phone-number service are different products. Saily now offers an add-on with a US-based number beginning with +1. Its help page says standard data plans remain available without that add-on. Saily's service explanation

That number is not automatically a local number for each country you visit. If you need a Japanese or Italian number for a specific service, do not treat a US number as an equivalent substitute.

The phone-number product page describes monthly renewal, a separate call-and-text plan and identity verification. Check those costs and conditions independently of the data bundle. Saily's phone-number product

If you just want internet for maps, messages and app calls, begin by checking whether the basic data option is sufficient. You do not have to buy a number simply because the app offers one.

What happens to your usual SIM?

Adding travel data does not automatically cancel the service you already have. On a compatible phone, you can keep the existing line and choose a different line for data.

Give the lines clear names, then decide what each should do. The home number may remain necessary for messages and account recovery. Its roaming and calling charges still belong to your home operator's tariff.

Do not change your messaging-app number just to use another data connection. Keep access to the number associated with the account in case the app needs to verify it again.

How do you get connected?

First check the exact device variant and whether it can use another provider. Then choose the country or region, allowance and duration. Read the activation rule before installing.

Use the official installation instructions and a reliable internet connection. Once at the destination, select the intended line for mobile data and apply the provider's roaming settings. Test with Wi-Fi disconnected so you know which connection works.

Saily promotes adding destinations to an existing profile. That can reduce repeated installation, but you must still buy the right package for the next trip. Reusing a profile does not reuse expired data or extend a country package to another destination. Saily's service overview

Is Saily the same thing as NordVPN?

No. A connection between the companies does not make the products interchangeable. Saily sells connectivity and may include or offer extra features under particular plans.

For example, Saily describes virtual locations as routing traffic through a remote server so websites see another connection location. Evaluate that feature for its stated purpose instead of assuming every data package includes every capability of a separate VPN subscription. Saily's virtual-location explanation

If privacy features influence your purchase, check which connections they cover, what settings are required and what data the service processes. For workplace use, ask whether the service fits the company's requirements.

Who is it a reasonable fit for?

Saily is worth comparing when you want to arrange prepaid travel data digitally and prefer managing it through a provider app. Check the specific offer against alternatives if you need large hotspot allowances, a local number or unusual destinations.

It may also be unnecessary. If the roaming already included with your home plan covers the trip, buying a second data package needs a clear benefit.

Before paying, answer these questions: does the phone work with it, does the package cover every stop, when does it start, and what happens if you run out of data? Use the Saily price guide for dated examples, and the general eSIM comparison if you have not chosen a provider.
