How much is a Saily eSIM? Prices and the details that change your bill

Citește în română

Saily's Japan and USA package cards listed 1 GB for seven days at US$3.99 when checked for this article. What you pay depends on the destination, allowance and duration: the same number of GB can cost more in another country.

That starting price is useful for a short, light-use trip. It is not the cost of a week of unrestricted internet.

There was a discrepancy within the USA page: its product cards showed US$3.99 for 1 GB over seven days, while other copy referred to a lower starting price. The table uses the explicit package cards. A headline without a matching allowance and validity period is not enough to price your trip.

The Italy page rendered in euros: 1 GB for seven days at €3.49, 3 GB for 30 days at €7.99, and 5 GB for 30 days at €11.49. These are separate currency observations, not conversions of the dollar prices. Saily Italy packages

Which size should you pay for?

Use your own recent mobile-data usage as a starting point. Then adjust for the trip. Will you download maps beforehand? Will photos upload over hotel Wi-Fi? Will you tether a laptop?

Here is an illustrative calculation, not a measured average for travelers: if you budget 0.4 GB each day for ten days, that is 4 GB. Add a buffer for an unexpected video call or navigation changes, and a 5 GB package becomes a reasonable candidate.

The Japan examples show why price per GB is only part of the decision. The 5 GB package costs about US$2.20 per included GB; the 10 GB package costs about US$1.80. Yet if you use only 4 GB, buying 10 GB still means spending US$7 more. Unused data is not a saving.

Thirty days is an expiry window

A package with 5 GB and 30 days gives you 5 GB to use within that period. It does not refill the allowance each day, and it does not promise that 5 GB will last a month.

You can run out of data first, or run out of time first. A seven-day package is therefore a poor fit for a nine-day trip unless you have deliberately budgeted for the remaining days.

Check when validity begins and how long you can wait after purchase before activation. Treat that purchase-to-activation deadline separately from the seven- or 30-day usage window.

What does "unlimited" buy you?

Read the speed policy before comparing an unlimited package with a fixed allowance. The Japan listing checked for this article described 5 GB per day without a speed limit, followed by data at up to 1 Mbps for the rest of the day. That is a materially different service from unlimited full-speed data. Saily Japan's unlimited-plan details

Ask whether your busiest day fits the fast allowance. Uploading several gigabytes from a laptop in one afternoon is a different workload from sending messages throughout a week.

Also check hotspot terms on the exact plan. Permission to share data does not remove any speed or total-use limits that apply to the connection.

What else belongs in the cost comparison?

Check the price of any extra data you expect to need, whether automatic top-ups are enabled, and whether an optional number or calling package has been added. Saily now describes a separate US phone-number add-on; a basic data purchase should not be treated as an all-inclusive telephone service. Saily's product explanation

Your home operator can also charge independently if you use its line abroad. Buying a Saily plan does not cancel those terms.

Before payment, write down the trip's total requirement: destination, days, expected GB and whether you need ordinary calls. Compare complete options against that list. For a broader explanation of what you are buying, read what Saily is; for another provider's pricing structure, see Airalo's costs.
